An Interview With... Ms. Carlin

13 Facts You Might Not Have Known About Ms.Carlin...

  1. Ms. Carlin has been teaching World Studies, for four years. She has taught at Pyle for three years.

  2. Her favorite part of teaching is putting together lessons that are creative, and inspire her students to investigate further.

  3. When she was in Middle school she was a Jazz dancer.

  4. Her favorite memories at Pyle include talking with friends, and her 8th grade formal, which was a Hawaiian theme. Recalling her “Hawaii themed sarong and tank top.”

  5. Ms.Carlin shared with us some of her coolest experiences during her travels. Including things like petting a lion, and visiting Ancient Mayan sacrificial ruins.

  6. One of Ms. Carlin’s dreams is to finish visiting all the countries in the European Union.

  7. Teaching has taught Ms. Carlin about herself, and the way people think. It has helped her analyze the learning process, and it has helped her express ideas.

  8. She says she was destined to be a teacher when finding out her grandfather was a History teacher, and a principal in New York.

  9. Her favorite books are the Harry Potter series.

  10. Ms. Carlin’s favorite historical time period is the colonial, and pre-civil war eras.

  11. If she could talk to anyone who is now dead, it would be Alexander Hamilton. If she could talk to anyone alive, it would be Taylor Swift.

  12. Her favorite music is 90s rock.

  13. Ms. Carlin always knew she wanted to be a teacher, even before coming to Pyle.

Later we interviewed Mr.Peake,who taught Ms.Carlin when she was going to Pyle, to find out what kind of student she was. Mr. Peake remarked that her class was a bunch of great kids, great friends, and great students. Stating that it was an amazing class,that he really enjoyed teaching. Describing the kids that go to Pyle as overachievers and hardworking. Especially Ms.Carlin,who he fondly remembers as “nice, cooperative, positive, bubbly.”
